This is a great opportunity to operate outdoors but entrants should stake their place soon as last year popular operating spots became very over-crowded (Photo: George Denham)

Propagation
is a fascinating subject. It affects us all, is discussed at length on
QRP-L, but is understood by few ! Just what does that Storm graphic
mean ? That's bad isn't it ? Er, or is it good ? What about that
K-index - or should we use the A-index ? Just what do those numbers
mean anyway ?
Paul
Harden NA5N is one of those rare individuals who really understands his
subject and has a talent for explaining in a way we can all understand.
He's also a whizz at presentation. This feature is set to become a
classic, full of hints and tips - you will become your local club's
propagation guru !
The article is presented in PDF format and can be found on the Technical/Projects page.
The Executive and Managers of the QRP Amateur Radio Club International are proud to announce that the winner of the First Annual QRP-ARCI Contest Championship is Bob Patten, N4BP.
The first QRP-ARCI Contest Championship ran during the 2007 Contest Season. In this contest the entries from nine of the individual contests sponsored by QRP-ARCI were tallied to give a total standing for all of 2007. To be eligible, an operator needed to enter at least three eligible contests, and their top five finishes would be considered for their QCC Score.
The Winter 2008 issue of QQ features part one of a great design by Paul Alexander, WB9IPA. Unfortunately the article, entitled A Phasing Type Transceiver for the 60 Meter Band, suffered some kind of technical glitch and a few of the schematics are difficult to read.
Non-members can ensure they receive QRP Quarterly by subscribing using the form in the right hand column of the homepage. Back issues of the QRP Quarterly Winter 2008 are available featuring part 1.
Operating in the great outdoors is fun. Even in winter events like FYBO and the Polar Bears PBMME see dozens of hams braving the elements and trying to master CW with frozen fingers. But how do you log those contacts when it's raining ? Ever tried writing in a notebook that's turning into mush ?
Well, Andrew Kabasakalian WB2WZC has the answer. At QRP ARCI we have tested his waterproof logbooks in pouring rain - they work ! Simple as that.
Want a new way to have some QRP fun? Think about introducing yourself to the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC). There is even an SKCC QRP award!
SKCC is a rapidly growing organization that promotes the use of CW sent with a straight key. The group promotes the spirit of Straight Key Night year round. As of 24 November 2007, SKCC has 3,679 members.
In addition to having just plain fun in members working other like-minded hams with old fashioned J-38's, Vibroplex bugs, and other manual implements of CW generation, the Club sponsors achievement awards and operating events and contests . . .
